Continuous innovation, yet with a nod to the past, is the theme of the new YKK® collection.
YKK® presents its latest innovations for the apparel and leather goods/footwear sectors. These products, as always, combine aesthetics and functionality, in line with the trends for the Spring/Summer 2027 season.
Those suggest a focus on materials that reflect light through glossy finishes, metallic effects, transparencies, and textures with nuanced and iridescent effects. Innovation is expressed through high-tech materials and advanced production processes, but also heralds the return of traditional fabrics and colors reminiscent of bygone eras, reinterpreted with a modern twist.
This is where the themes that define the items in the collection come from: POSITIVE LIGHT and SMART UPGRADE for the apparel sector; NEW CLASSIC and TIMELESS DECO’ for the footwear/accessories sector.
POSITIVE LIGHT and SMART UPGRADE:
In its Apparel collection, YKK® offers, among other new products, EXCELLA® Aquacheat™ NATULON®, a brushed metal zipper with recycled polyester tape and a water-repellent finish thanks to a metallic-effect film applied near the chain. Now available in a sustainable, water-based and DMF-free version.
With an even more technical and sporty look, the collection also features a version Aquacheat™ NATULON® with Advanced Coating, a coil zipper with recycled polyester tape and a water-based polyurethane coating for a water-repellent finish. Even more resistant thanks to the innovative Advanced Coating, which guarantees unparalleled durability and strength.
As part of its commitment to a circular economy, YKK® is introducing VISLON® NATULON® made with ECONYL® and a Revived Top Stop, a monoplastic zipper with ECONYL® regenerated nylon, into its collection to contribute to the circularity of nylon garments. Furthermore, to facilitate garment recycling, the zipper features a Revived Top Stop: a specially designed top stopper for quick and easy removal of the slider.
NEW CLASSIC e TIMELESS DECO’:
For the leather goods and footwear sector, YKK® offers the EXCELLA® Curve NATULON®, a top-of-the-line curved brushed metal zipper, ideal for accessories and footwear thanks to the ultrasonic cutting of the tape, which makes the sewing process quick and easy. The collection features a matte gold finish for a timeless elegance and is paired with a raised-bridge slider, ideal for thick or large zipper pullers.
A great YKK® classic revisited with a vintage twist for the S/S 2027 season is the EXCELLA® zipper with grosgrain tape, paired with a puller shaped and finished in antique copper silver, for a decidedly retro feel.
The star of this collection is the EXCELLA® brushed metal zipper. Ideal for the footwear and accessories sector, it comes in a TAILOR MADE version, with the tape customized to the customer’s needs to facilitate the production of certain types of bags, wallets, and luggage in general. A concrete example of this is our EXCELLA® NATULON® with Folded Tape, with the upper ends of the tape folded for easier positioning and application on the accessory. This collection is paired with the “stay down” puller, featuring a spring-loaded snap to limit movement and make it ideal for small leather goods.
The entire SS/27 Collection, which includes other interesting new products, will be previewed at the NEW PROJECTS OPEN DAYS event at the YKK ITALIA showroom in Pero (MI) from 20 to 22 January 2026 and subsequently at LINEAPELLE (10-13 February 2026) and will also be available for viewing on the website https://www.ykk.it in the Collections section.
