Green is the new black or is black the new green?

YKK AW/23-24 Collection

Synonymous with elegance and refinement, black has always been the undisputed protagonist of memorable images in the history of fashion.

Coco Chanel made black a style icon with her Petite Robe Noire in the 1920s.She revolutionized the dress codes of the society of the time, creating a dress for modern women. Also unforgettable was Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, whose famous little black dress, created by Givenchy, became the emblem of sophisticated and refined elegance. Black has remained among the most popular colors of contemporary designers: Gianni Versace considered it “the quintessence of simplicity and elegance” and Yves Saint Laurent declared that black “combines art and fashion” and younger generations certainly do not miss out on this.

Black is more than a color: it is a way of dressing, a trend that is difficult to imagine going out of fashion.

With this in mind YKK, which has always been dedicated to creating responsible solutions for the fashion world, wants to make forward-looking use of this fact. Faced with the omnipresence of black, both in traditional and trendy wardrobes, we focused on various ways of developing more sustainable products, optimizing, thanks to monochromatic production, not only our materials, but also production processes.

Along with the demarcation of “ECO BLACK” in the AW23-24 Collection, YKK offers new solutions thanks to several innovations and improvements.

Inside this “capsule” we find:

Advancen® snap button made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This product not only reduces the use of virgin material but when applied on a nylon garment eliminates the process of separating the materials at the end of the garment’s life, optimizing the recycling process of the garment itself.

Excella® Light Natulon®: black anodized aluminum chain, extremely durable and resistant to corrosion thanks to the thin oxide layer that covers the surface. The tape on this zipper is made with recycled polyester.

Excella® Natulon®: brushed metal zipper with symmetrical teeth and extremely resistant black finish for long lasting products. Recycled polyester tape.

Vislon® Natulon® with LiquidWood® puller: die-cast plastic chain and recycled polyester tape zipper. The puller of this item is made with LiquidWood® technology using leftovers from paper production processes. It quickly breaks down into ecological by-products such as CO2 and water.

Natulon Plus® with bio-based rubber puller: this zipper is characterized by a high component of recycled material as both the tape and the chain are made with recycled material. The puller is made with bio-based rubber.

AQUAGUARD® PFC free with UV print: water-repellent PFC-free zipper, ecological and personalisable thanks to UV printing on the tape.
