The third year of collaboration between YKK Italia and the SDA Bocconi Sustainability Lab through the “Monitor for Circular Fashion” project ends with the publication of the 2023 Report.
The annual event involved key players in the sector: among the participants were the European Commission, EURATEX and the 26 companies of the Monitor for Circular Fashion.
In 2023 the Observatory involved 26 partner companies and presented 3 new pilot projects with an open innovation approach, led by TOD’s Group, Ferragamo and Vivienne Westwood, in addition to the 7 projects already launched in 2022. The idea behind the projects pilot is to test the over 40 circularity KPIs identified by the SDA Bocconi research team, thus promoting sustainable and circular methodologies among ingredient brands, brands and retailers and service providers in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors.
The partner companies of the Monitor for Circular Fashion have also signed the Circular Fashion Manifesto for the third year, a Manifesto that declares their commitment to greater transparency and traceability of the supply chain. In the updated version available on the SDA Bocconi website, the commitment has been extended to the 8 actions taken from the European Commission’s Textile Transition Pathway, a strategy for accelerating green practices in the textile sector: 1) “Promote and implement sustainable business models and circulars”. 2) “Continue to raise consumer awareness towards conscious consumption models”. 3)“Anticipate the regulations proposed in the European strategy for sustainable and circular textiles”. 4) “Seek common methods to evaluate and compare the sustainability performance of products”. 5) “Improve the level of traceability and transparency of value chains through the digital passport”. 6) “Support the development of skills for green and digital transition”. 7) “Increase access and interaction with SMEs”. 8) “Provide education on the issues of sustainability and circularity in the fashion sector.”
